*Syria Accuses Israel of Fueling Unrest in Druze-Majority Sweida* Following Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks about Israel’s intervention in Syria, Damascus accused Israel of deliberately fueling unrest in the Druze-majority province of Sweida. A senior Syrian government source told state news agency SANA that U.S. mediation helped halt Israeli strikes in July 2025, which Syria claims had obstructed efforts to end clashes between Druze and Bedouin communities. The source also accused Israel of arming a militia to destabilize the region and rejected what it described as attempts to use Syria’s Druze community for Israeli political purposes. The allegations have not been independently verified. Photo for illustration purposes only.
