Houthis Reveal Secret Airbase Near Bab el-Mandeb Strait The Houthis have revealed a newly constructed airbase located roughly two kilometers from the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait after taking control of the facility around two weeks ago. According to OSINT reports, the base was built with Saudi and U.S. involvement during 2025–2026 as part of preparations for potential disruptions to shipping through the strait. Some reports claim U.S. aircraft previously operated from the facility during strikes against Iran. When Houthi forces reached the base, however, it was reportedly abandoned and contained no aircraft or personnel. The facility is now under Houthi control, giving the group another position overlooking one of the world's most important maritime chokepoints.
