The IDF says it now controls more than 60% of the Gaza Strip, exceeding the territory retained under the October 2025 ceasefire. Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth said the security zone protects Israeli communities, though Hamas still controls the remaining territory and retains residual capabilities.
