Israel has recovered the remains of Yehuda Katz, an IDF soldier who went missing 44 years ago during the First Lebanon War, the military said Tuesday. Katz disappeared following the Battle of Sultan Yacoub on June 11, 1982, along with soldiers Zachary Baumel and Zvi Feldman. Baumel’s remains were recovered in 2019 and Feldman’s in 2025. The IDF said the remains were located in a covert operation in Lebanon based on intelligence gathered by the military and Mossad over several years. The remains were brought to Israel and identified through forensic testing. The military did not disclose the location or other details of the operation. Katz’s family was informed of the recovery.
