Defense Minister Israel Katz is set to hold a discussion with IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir and other top military officials on the recent kites flown from the Gaza Strip, his office says. The meeting follows Katz's Sunday directive ordering the IDF to act “immediately and forcefully" against any further launches, declaring that "a balloon is treated like a kite, and a kite is treated like a drone, with or without explosives," and that Israel views every launch as "an act of war in every sense." At least seven kites have crossed from Gaza into Israeli communities in recent days, including Nahal Oz and Kfar Aza; the IDF has said none carried suspicious materials and the public was never in danger.
