A container ship chartered by Israeli shipping company ZIM sank in the Black Sea off Bulgaria after being struck by maritime drones, Bulgarian authorities said Thursday. All 18 crew members were rescued. The Liberian-flagged Contship Jet, managed by a Greek company, was traveling from Haifa, Israel, to Constanța, Romania, with 421 containers aboard when it was attacked Wednesday in Bulgaria’s exclusive economic zone, about 21 nautical miles off the coast. The vessel was outside Bulgaria’s territorial waters. The crew included 14 Filipinos and four Ukrainians. Bulgarian naval and border police vessels rescued the sailors and transported them to the port city of Varna for medical examinations. No injuries were reported.
