⚖️ COURT BLOCKS IRS FROM SHARING TAXPAYER DATA WITH ICE: A unanimous federal appeals panel upheld an injunction blocking an IRS policy that shared taxpayer addresses with ICE, ruling the procedure violated federal taxpayer-privacy law. ICE had submitted requests involving about 1.28 million people, and the IRS disclosed 47,289 records, often without properly verifying required address information. Judge Cornelia Pillard wrote that concerns the ruling could hamper law enforcement are ultimately “a gripe with Congress, not the court.”
