French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday condemned claims by President Donald Trump and other foreign leaders blaming Muslim migrants for rioting in France, calling the remarks “unacceptable” and “stupid.” Macron accused foreign leaders of exploiting France’s unrest for political purposes following protests over soaring living costs that led to looting and violence in Paris and other cities last weekend. Trump had blamed Muslim migrants for the unrest without providing evidence and urged Macron to close France’s borders. Asked whether he was referring to Trump, Macron replied, “Among others.”
