Following Israeli earthquake assistance, Israel and Venezuela have agreed to resume consular relations after nearly 17 years without diplomatic ties. In a joint announcement on Tuesday, the two governments stated that, building on the Israeli humanitarian delegation's work after the June 24 double earthquake and subsequent high-level talks, they will continue bilateral technical cooperation on emergency response and reconstruction. They will also establish a coordination mechanism to provide consular services to their citizens living in each other's countries.
