NEW YORK DECLARES MEASLES DISASTER EMERGENCY: Gov. Kathy Hochul declared a State Disaster Emergency Monday as measles cases continue rising across New York, with 108 confirmed cases this year, seven in NYC and 101 elsewhere in the state. Since July 15, 92 cases have been reported, largely among under-immunized rural communities across 18 counties. The emergency order expands who can administer MMR vaccines to include paramedics, advanced EMS personnel, midwives and pharmacists, and lets nurses order testing.
