Bronx man was arrested after allegedly disrupting Shabbat services Friday night at Manhattan’s Central Synagogue and attacking a congregant and security officer, authorities said. Larry Montes, 46, allegedly struck a 63-year-old woman, damaged synagogue property, then spit at and headbutted a security officer. Police said he also shouted an anti-Jewish slur. Montes faces hate-crime charges. The congregant suffered minor injuries, and no one was seriously hurt. Additional police were deployed to the synagogue. Mayor Zohran Mamdani called the attack “despicable.”
