Former FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said Monday that evidence supporting a laboratory origin for COVID-19 has strengthened over time while no new information has emerged to bolster the natural-spillover theory, and he criticized former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci for trying to suppress dissenting opinions. Gottlieb made the comments during an appearance on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” where co-anchor Joe Kernen pressed him on Fauci’s role.
