Aish, a Jewish educational organization with its main campus and yeshiva in Jerusalem, announced Thursday that it will welcome Binyamin “Ben Limor” Chasin, an Israeli- and Canadian-citizen who was freed after spending more than a decade in prison in Iraqi Kurdistan. Chasin is expected to arrive in Israel this week and begin studying at Aish’s yeshiva in Jerusalem before Shabbat Shuva. Chasin was imprisoned after the 2015 killing of a taxi driver in Sulaymaniyah. He said the driver had threatened to report him to Islamic State terrorists after hearing him speak Hebrew and that he acted in self-defense.
