Defense Minister Israel Katz said he instructed the IDF to act “immediately and forcefully" against kite or balloon launches from Gaza toward Israeli communities, declaring that every launch will be treated as an act of war, whether or not it carries explosives. The order follows at least four kites flown from Gaza that landed in Kibbutz Nahal Oz over the weekend; the IDF said nothing suspicious was found on them and they posed no danger to the public. Katz warned that anyone who organizes, launches or enables such activity will be dealt with severely.
