New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has cultivated a public image built around a constant smile, polished social media videos and an unflappable demeanor, but behind the scenes the first-term mayor has developed a reputation as unusually sensitive to criticism, according to a New York Post report citing more than a dozen anonymous political insiders. The report, published Thursday by the New York Post, said elected officials, political consultants and government operatives described Mamdani as frequently contacting critics after public disagreements, harboring grudges over perceived slights and closely monitoring negative media coverage. The sources spoke anonymously, saying they feared political repercussions.
