About 30 Jewish travelers and local residents are still missing after devastating flash floods struck Nepal last week, according to Chabad.org. The disaster came just weeks before Rosh Hashanah, when hundreds of Israeli travelers typically arrive in Nepal for the High Holidays. Rabbi Chezky and Chani Lifshitz, directors of Chabad of Nepal, had been preparing for the annual holiday gatherings at their Chabad center in Kathmandu when the disaster struck. Instead, the couple has been working with families, local officials and rescue teams to locate missing Jewish travelers and gather information about those still unaccounted for.
