🌀 TYPHOON CHAMPI BATTERS TAIWAN WITH MASSIVE WAVES, LEAVING ONE DEAD AND HUNDREDS INJURED: Taiwan shut down schools and offices and canceled hundreds of flights Friday and Saturday as Typhoon Champi unleashed powerful winds, torrential rain and enormous waves reaching 26 feet high. At least 616 people were injured, trees were uprooted, buildings damaged and more than 340,000 households lost electricity. Wind gusts reached 141 mph in some coastal areas as the storm moved away from Taiwan toward Japan.
