💳📉 AMERICAN EXPRESS TO CUT ABOUT 5% OF WORKFORCE: American Express announced Friday that it plans to eliminate about 5% of its global workforce as part of a restructuring, Reuters reported. CEO Stephen Squeri told Bloomberg the aim is to reduce management layers, simplify operations and speed up decision-making. The company took a $336 million pretax restructuring charge in the third quarter. The cuts come as Amex reported third-quarter revenue up 9% to $20.1 billion and raised its full-year adjusted profit forecast to $17.60 to $17.90 per share. Reports put the cuts at roughly 3,500 to 3,850 jobs, though the company has not given a figure in its earnings release.
