Germany told the United Nations’ top court Monday that Nicaragua’s case accusing Berlin of violating international law by supplying arms to Israel was improperly filed and should be dismissed. Nicaragua accuses Germany of violating the Genocide Convention and international humanitarian law by providing military support to Israel during its war against Hamas in Gaza. Israel, which is not a party to the case, strongly denies allegations that its actions constitute genocide. Germany’s legal team argued that Nicaragua failed to properly notify Berlin before filing the case and gave Germany less than a month to respond.
