A Reuters investigation revealed Thursday that Iran operated a hidden network of more than 5,000 Defense Ministry-linked agencies to import at least $2 billion in military-related equipment since January 2025, bypassing Western sanctions and the U.S. naval blockade. Shipments included explosives, rocket fuel ingredients, aircraft components and hundreds of heavy-duty trucks potentially usable as missile launchers. Much of the equipment was recorded as originating in China, Russia and Germany, entering Iran by land, sea and air.
