Former Ukrainian commander-in-chief and current ambassador to the UK, Valerii Zaluzhnyi reportedly said he does not believe Ukraine will ever join NATO, despite years of efforts to align the country's military with the alliance. Zaluzhnyi said that after more than a decade of working toward NATO standards and repeatedly hearing that membership was close, he now believes Ukraine should instead focus on building alternative security alliances.
