JEWISH EMPLOYEE SUES HARVARD, SAYS HE WAS FIRED AFTER TAKING OFF FOR ROSH HASHANAH: Daniel Lilienthal is reportedly suing Harvard University in federal court in New York, alleging religious discrimination after he was fired in October 2024, nine days after returning from two approved days off for Rosh Hashanah. The lawsuit alleges his supervisor raised concerns about him with HR on the first day of the holiday and later warned him not to think he could "just take off time whenever you want." Harvard says it allows employees to take time off for religious holidays and had not yet responded to the allegations in court.
