⚡ POWER GRID EMERGENCY ORDER COVERS NEW JERSEY, 12 OTHER STATES: The U.S. Department of Energy has issued an emergency order for the PJM Interconnection grid, which serves New Jersey, 12 other states and Washington, D.C. Unseasonably warm October weather and high electricity demand are coinciding with scheduled maintenance at power plants and transmission lines. The order lets PJM call on additional generation and backup resources, and allows some plants to run beyond normal restrictions. PJM says it does not expect the conditions to affect everyday customers. The order runs through Friday, Oct. 16.
