WARREN BUFFETT STEPS DOWN AS BERKSHIRE CHAIRMAN: Warren Buffett, 96, stepped down Friday as chairman of Berkshire Hathaway and became chairman emeritus while remaining on the board. His son, Howard G. Buffett, was elected chairman as part of the company’s long-planned succession, while Greg Abel continues as CEO. Howard will focus on preserving Berkshire’s culture and values rather than running daily operations. Buffett, who transformed a struggling textile company into a conglomerate now valued at roughly $1.1 trillion, told shareholders that “Father Time always wins,” but said he remains more confident than ever in the company’s future. — Reuters.
