The IDF's Hasmonean Brigade for charedi troops has declared its first reserve battalion operational following a battalion-level exercise in the Golan Heights. The Shimon Reserve Battalion includes soldiers from the Shlav Bet track-older Charedi men who previously received draft exemptions-as well as Charedi troops from other IDF units. The soldiers underwent full combat training adapted to the Charedi way of life, and the battalion is expected to be called up for operations on the northern front in the coming months, depending on operational needs.
