The inspector general for the U.S. Department of Labor said a mezuzah was placed on the door of his office after he received threats following the agency's announcement of an H-1B visa fraud investigation. Rabbi David Katz of Brooklyn, founder of the Israel Heritage Foundation, drove from New York to Washington to affix the mezuzah. Inspector General Anthony D'Esposito, who is not Jewish, said Rabbi Katz contacted him after learning of the threats and told him he needed the mezuzah for "blessings, wisdom, and protection."
