FAKE CLAIMS: 16 ARRESTED IN NEARLY $500,000 CAR INSURANCE FRAUD SCHEME: NY Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that 16 people have been arrested following a State Police and Department of Financial Services investigation into nearly $500,000 in attempted fraudulent auto insurance claims across NYC, Long Island, and upstate New York. In one Brooklyn case, a driver allegedly caused a crash, falsely blamed the other motorist, and collected over $16,000 in medical insurance payments. The suspects face a combined 31 charges, including 29 felonies and two misdemeanors, according to News 12.
