Defense Minister Israel Katz dismissed reports of a major confrontation between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir over possible military action against Iran. Channel 12 and Army Radio reported that defense officials feared an unspecified operation could trigger a confrontation with Iran ahead of Tuesday’s elections. Katz called the reports “completely baseless and false,” insisting Israel had no intention of initiating an attack before the vote, but warning that any Iranian attack would be met with overwhelming force.
