🐴 NYC MOVES TO PHASE OUT HORSE-DRAWN CARRIAGES: Mayor Zohran Mamdani and City Council Speaker Julie Menin have reportedly reached a deal to phase out New York City's horse carriage industry by June 2028, with the Council set to vote on the measure Oct. 22. The revised bill would end new carriage licenses and require the city to create a workforce transition program for drivers and owners. It's named for an 18-year-old tourist who died in June after being thrown from a carriage drawn by a bolting horse. The carriage drivers' union has opposed the ban.
