Former New York Gov. George Pataki has revealed that he suffers from a lung condition linked to his exposure to toxic dust at Ground Zero following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Pataki, who led New York through the attacks and their aftermath, told the New York Post in an exclusive interview that he was diagnosed within the past five years with restrictive airway disease, which he believes stems from his exposure to toxins at the World Trade Center site. “I just look at it as I’m one of the lucky ones,” Pataki told the Post.
