Meta will begin charging companies that use the WhatsApp Business Platform for many customer-service replies starting Oct. 1, 2026, according to the company’s developer documentation. The change covers service messages: free-form replies sent by human agents or chatbots inside an open 24-hour customer-service window. Those replies have been free since Nov. 1, 2024. Each business phone number will receive 1,000 free service messages a month. Charges start with the 1,001st delivered message. Unused free messages do not carry over to the next month. Rates match utility and authentication prices in each market and vary by country. Incoming customer messages remain free.
