🇨🇦 CANADA ORDERS DEPORTATION OF FORMER IRANIAN POLICE OFFICER CONVICTED IN U.S. SANCTIONS CASE: Canada ordered Amin Yousefijam, a former Tehran police lieutenant living in Toronto under the names Amin Riki and Ameen Cohen, deported in July, according to a ruling made public this week. Yousefijam pleaded guilty in the U.S. in 2021 to helping his brother’s criminal network illegally export dual-use materials to Iran. Immigration officials found he played a critical role in the operation but did not establish that he remained a national security threat. He remains in Canada while considering his legal options. Jewish advocacy groups are urging Ottawa to accelerate the removal of Iranian regime officials.
