⚾ MLB PROPOSES MAJOR OVERHAUL WITH SHORTER SEASON, LONGER PLAYOFFS: Major League Baseball is reportedly proposing major changes that could reshape the sport, including cutting the regular season from 162 to 154 games beginning in 2029, giving players more regular days off, and expanding the Division Series from best-of-five to best-of-seven. Beginning as early as 2027, higher-seeded playoff teams could also be allowed to choose their postseason opponents, including the No. 3 seed selecting its Wild Card matchup and the No. 1 seed choosing its Division Series opponent. The changes are part of broader labor negotiations that include MLB’s push for a salary cap and floor, which the Players Association has strongly opposed. The proposals have not yet been agreed to.
