🇺🇸🇷🇺 REPORT — KUSHNER CHALLENGES PUTIN OVER DONBAS CLAIM: During a Sept. 5 Kremlin meeting on efforts to end the Ukraine war, Russian President Vladimir Putin told U.S. envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff that Russian forces would capture the entire Donbas within months and that Russia was prepared to strike Ukraine’s energy infrastructure heading into winter. According to The New York Times, citing a U.S. official and a person familiar with the talks, Kushner pushed back: “With all due respect, you told us the same thing a year ago. What are the chances that we come back here a year from now and you tell us the same thing again? Maybe we don’t waste a year?” The meeting lasted more than three hours and ended without a breakthrough.
