Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow and Police Chief Myron Demkiw are promising heightened security for the Jewish community ahead of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, warning that antisemitic attacks and criminal activity targeting Jews will be met with a forceful response. Demkiw said Tuesday that Toronto police will maintain a heavy presence around Jewish institutions and gatherings during the upcoming holidays, including uniformed and undercover officers. Police will also work directly with the Jewish community’s security network.
