🇷🇺🇮🇱 ISRAELI SCIENTIST JAILED IN RUSSIA OVER LESS THAN $30 IN NAVALNY DONATIONS: Sofia Rosenfeld, 50, a Russian scientist who also holds Israeli citizenship, was sentenced Oct. 7 to 3½ years in prison for financing an "extremist organization," over two 1,000-ruble donations to Alexei Navalny's Anti-Corruption Foundation in 2021. Rosenfeld says she set up the recurring payment before the group was outlawed, and that she was on an Arctic research expedition, cut off and unaware of the designation, when the two payments went through. Israel's Foreign Ministry says it is in contact with her family and working with Russian authorities to provide consular assistance.
