💧🇮🇱 WATER CRISIS DEEPENS AS DESAL PLANTS STAY OFFLINE: Five of Israel's six large Mediterranean desalination plants remain shut Tuesday because of algae and sediment in coastal waters, traced to a microalgae bloom drifting from Egypt's Nile Delta. Mekorot is drawing more from the Kinneret and old wells to cover the shortfall. Household drinking water is being kept flowing, but farms in the south - especially around Nitzana, near the Egyptian border - have had freshwater sharply cut, putting roughly 20,000 dunams of vegetable crops at risk; Mekorot is supplying only 300-500 cubic meters of water per hour to the area, against a needed 1,500.
