VOLKSWAGEN REPORTEDLY PLANS PAY FREEZE FOR 660,000 EMPLOYEES WORLDWIDE UNTIL 2030: Volkswagen is planning to freeze pay for its roughly 660,000 employees worldwide through 2030, according to a Süddeutsche Zeitung report citing internal documents. The paper said the plan also includes cuts to variable pay, special payments, benefits and jobs, and that the lack of pay rises could mean about a 10% loss of income because of inflation. VW's Global Works Council said it had received internal information about the board's plans and called the approach "absurd." Volkswagen declined to comment on "speculation," saying talks later this week would be the forum for any labor-cost proposals.
