Fifteen soldiers from the IDF's Hasmonean Brigade have completed an eight-month officers' course, becoming the brigade's first Charedi officers. The soldiers are set to receive their ranks at a ceremony this evening near the Kotel. IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir congratulated the graduates, telling them, "You are making history and breaking new ground." The training met full IDF military standards while accommodating Charedi religious observance, including strict kosher standards, designated Torah study and prayer times. Another officers' course is scheduled to begin in November.
