IRAN CLAIMS CAPTURE OF AMERICAN DRONE NEAR STRAIT OF HORMUZ: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced Thursday that its electronic warfare unit intercepted a U.S. MQM-170 reconnaissance and decoy drone west of the Strait of Hormuz, reportedly taking control of its guidance systems and landing it intact. Iranian officials claim the drone was gathering intelligence on air defense positions along the Persian Gulf coastline and had launched from a country on the Gulf’s southern shore. The claims have not been independently verified or confirmed by U.S. officials.
