The Altalena, the ship at the center of one of Israel’s most painful early confrontations, was found intact Monday at a depth of 503 meters off Israel’s coast after months of searching. The discovery was made around 12:30 a.m. using a vessel equipped with advanced sensors and survey systems. The search was initiated by Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu and led by Roni Sadeh of the Survey of Israel’s Marine Mapping Division.
