WATCH: FETTERMAN ACCIDENTALLY CALLS HIMSELF A “LIFELONG REPUBLICAN”: Sen. John Fetterman drew laughter at the Texas Tribune Festival after being asked why he doesn’t become an independent and replying, “Because I’m a lifelong Republican.” The Pennsylvania Democrat immediately realized the mistake, corrected himself to “lifelong Democrat,” and joked, “That will get clipped.” Fetterman, who has recently broken with fellow Democrats on several issues, says he has “no path as a Republican” and plans to remain in the Democratic Party.
