💳 VISA, MASTERCARD AGREE TO $167.5 MILLION ATM FEE SETTLEMENT: Visa and Mastercard have agreed to pay a combined $167.5 million to settle a lawsuit alleging their network rules blocked independent ATM operators from charging lower access fees, causing cardholders to pay more when withdrawing cash from ATMs not owned by their bank or another financial institution. The settlement covers unreimbursed surcharges paid between October 24, 2007, and August 14, 2026. Eligible customers can file a claim — no documentation required — through Feb. 10, 2027. Payouts will not go out until after a final court approval hearing scheduled for Feb. 17, 2027. Visa and Mastercard deny wrongdoing.
