Israeli singer Ishay Ribo says he has turned down performances and television opportunities that could have earned him more than 1 million shekels because of religious restrictions on hearing women sing. In an interview with Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, Ribo said he also declined reality television programs that could have brought him significant income. He said a rabbi helped him decide that appearing at certain events could conflict with his religious responsibilities to his largely religious audience.
