🏙️ OVER HALF OF NYC PIED-À-TERRE TAX EXEMPTION REQUESTS APPROVED, RAISING QUESTIONS ABOUT REVENUE: About 5,700 of roughly 10,000 exemption applications against New York City's new pied-à-terre tax have been approved, according to Department of Finance figures reported by the New York Post. The surcharge targets certain second homes. The mayor has said it will raise $500 million, while Comptroller Mark Levine has estimated $340–380 million once exemptions are counted. A Staten Island judge ordered the city to redo its notices and the city is appealing, but the tax is proceeding. The exemption deadline was extended to Oct. 13.
