Iraq has opened its first museum dedicated to Jewish history, offering a rare glimpse into the legacy of a community that once numbered up to 150,000 people but has been reduced to only a handful of remaining Jews. The Jewish Shamash Museum opened on Al-Rashid Street in Baghdad, inside the historic building that once housed the Shamash Jewish School, founded by the city's Jewish community in 1928. The museum features historical documents, school records, academic certificates, family photographs, traditional clothing, household items and religious artifacts. Recorded interviews and audiovisual presentations also document the experiences of Iraqi Jews and their families.
