A 49-year-old Israeli man from Jerusalem was detained at a Ukrainian border crossing after returning from Uman for Rosh Hashana, with his family saying he is being held at a military base near Odesa for mobilization, Walla News reported. Yonatan Karlinsky Mashak, who was born in Ukraine and moved to Israel about 14 years ago, was traveling with other pilgrims when officials discovered he also held Ukrainian citizenship. He was removed from the bus and later transferred to Odesa, according to Walla. His wife, Odel, said the family is seeking help from Israel’s Foreign Ministry and wants him brought home.
