A 28-year-old woman training for the New York City Marathon has been declared brain dead after being stabbed multiple times in the neck while jogging along a Brooklyn waterfront path in what investigators believe may have been a random attack. Katie Suarez was running along the Shore Parkway Greenway near Bay 17th Street in Bath Beach shortly after 8 p.m. Friday when she was attacked, according to police sources cited by the New York Post. Her father reportedly went searching for her after she failed to return home and discovered her lying along the path. She was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn, where she was initially listed in critical condition. Police sources later told the New York Post that Suarez had been declared brain dead.
