HAR HATZOFIM, 1954: After the War of Independence, Har HaTzofim, home of the original Hebrew University campus and Hadassah Hospital, was left as a small Israeli island surrounded by Jordanian-held territory in Yerushalayim. Under the armistice agreement, a UN-escorted convoy like this one made its way up every two weeks to bring supplies and switch the Israeli police guarding the site.
