THE CHAZON ISH: HaRav Avraham Yeshaya Karelitz was born in 1878 near Grodno and never held an official position. In 1933 he moved to Bnei Brak and became the leading posek of the Torah world, rebuilding yeshivos after the Holocaust. In 1952 Ben-Gurion came to his home and asked how religious and secular Jews could live together. He answered: when two wagons meet on a narrow bridge, the empty one makes way for the full one.
